  1. Hello all,
I've been a lurker on these forums for a long time. I share the outrage with many members here of this reorganization, and even though I'm a dumb copper, I felt that this time some logic in this reorganization needed to be imparted to the top brass ( though I'm sure far from perfect ). Here is a letter I sent to the CGS, ECAB, and DINF. Your comments welcome.

    Dear Sir,

It is terrible times we live in when centuries of tradition are thrown away in what is called “ progress “. Though I deplore the potential loss of the famous names of Regiments that have served King, Queen, and Country for over 300 years. I suspect, that no matter what, some reorganization has to take place. I will not dabble into the politics of it all here, my intention is to provide a happy medium, the preservation of the traditions of the Regiments while allowing for this reorganization. The following is based on my nearly 20 year study of the British Army. Ever since I was a lad of 10, the collection of Regiments that formed the British Army has fascinated me. Hopefully my suggestions will be duly perused in this forthcoming reorganization, I have no agenda save the retention, in some form, of the Regiments for whom generations of young men have fought and strove and perished for in countless wars and countries.

    Sincerely,

    Mr. Louis DeVirgilio
