Fampoux Gardens in Winton, Bournemouth, was created as a memorial to members of the Royal Hampshire Regiment, and their stand at Fampoux during the Battle of Arras.

Now Bournemouth Council wants to close the play area there, claiming it's run down, and build houses on it. This lady is campaigning to prevent that.

Less than 100 years after the garden was built, with some of the work being done by the survivors of the battle, people seem to have forgotten what we owe those men. The garden and play area are used and enjoyed regularly by residents, and seem to me to be a fitting and peaceful memorial to men who died under terrible fire.

Anyone wishing to join the campaign, or write to Bournemouth Council, might persuade them to change their minds.

    Thank you.
