Not the sort of treatment anyone ordinary would have received!

The Wellcome Foundation , not far from Euston station in that there London, has a QI exhibition of medical history

In 2011 they hosted a launch for a book on how warfare has spurred on medical developments in every century.

IIRC it was just called 'Battlefield Medicine'

Whilst the device manufactured to order for prince Henry ( the Heir Apparent to the Plantagenet dynasty ) was pretty unique, I'm also sure that the technique eventually flowed down to us peons.

Like a lot of people on this Board, I owe my life to the NHS.

It's difficult to remember that they are drawing on generations of battlefield medicine as well as civilian medical practice.

Counting blessings.
