Extinction Rebellion protesters - what to do?

I have a reasonably sensible scientific background (and bits of University paper to prove it come to that) in physical sciences and engineering and I've been able to apply more than a little bit of critical thinking to the "settled science", it's very far from settled, not forgetting that some of the gospel truth published works and graphs have been debunked comprehensively.

Is the climate changing? Yes. Has it always been subject to fluctuations? Damn right it has. Not that many thousands of years back the whole of the UK down as far South as Oxford was under miles of ice. Do I think mankind producing CO2 has made any real difference? Not even close to being convinced.
Nothing about science is settled - it's constantly evolving.

The one thing for sure, a lot of those of island nations are slowly drowning.

I remember each of those pronouncements, all have proven to be utter bolleaux (predictably) and while I strongly agree there's a lot that can and indeed should can be done about pollution like plastics in packaging, teabags etc, etc, etc, I do not for one second believe that the whole CO2 doomsaying thing has any reliable basis.

Quite excellent. Another person who actually thinks.

Well there are plenty of people including prominent climate scientists (whose doomsaying graphs you've been fond of posting) proclaiming the "science is settled". There are plenty of things in science that are settled, there's just the accepted caveat that it's settled for now and further research may advance it a bit. Basic stuff like atomic structures, gravity, wave theory, inertia, plate tectonics, there are thousands of examples that can be produced which have been "settled" for decades to centuries.

Sea levels have ALWAYS changed it's the way the planet works....

I will post this again here as being directly on point but ignored earlier for some reason. ;-)

If NOAA, NASA and a zillion other global bodies can't change your mind...I won't.

I suspect someone competent is actually running the op. Only seen the bits I have witnessed today after my meeting finished but it struck me as innovative policing. There was no riot gear, no massed ranks. One minute a bunch of coppers were milling about in small groups in normal gear, next minute the hippys tents were recycled into fecked beyond repair and dragged off to a pile on whitehall. They banned their animal march down whitehall so the hippies were mainly on the north side of trafalgar square where they were having a 'static march', if that's a thing, when they hit them, only saw two people actually in the tents who just got bounced out and told to feck off. Oh and when the wah over the loudhailers for 'arrestables' to go immediately to the camp area went out three groups of three armed police just happened to be wandering that way looking completely uninterested in the whole matter, but oddly most 'arrestables' just remembered they'd got other things they needed to be doing. All in all the snapshot I got was top trolling by whoever is gold on this.
Of course 'static march' is a 'thing'. Were you never ordered to mark time (eg. in front of the OC's desk)?

Just what is meant by "everything happens?"
You know, all that bad stuff that's supposed to have happened since the '70s. The ones that keep getting name changes when they're too specific and the scaremongering stops working when the predicted events don't actually occur.

I don't know how old you are. And while, I disagree with her approach, my personal opinion is that there's a real reform needed.

It's easy to "oh, well, this is all BS," and then go and die before everything happens.
This from the man who lives on takeaways in "disposable" packaging.

That woman needs to be strapped to the muzzle of a BFO howitzer and it to be discharged. Tree hugging hippy bastard of the first order.

Call me a lefty or liberal or whatever, I do care about future generations..
These protestors want to abolish little things like central heating, motorised transport and modern medicine and dentistry along with destroying the economies of the developed Western world. A strange way of caring about the welfare of future generations.

Particularly dislike the way in which this disturbed child is being manipulated by her luvvue eco-activist (and very wealthy) parents, who seem to be lining up nearly as odd younger sister to contunue the shtick when Greta eventually implodes (again) or goes past her obvious sell by date, which is becoming an adult.

Along with all the manic utterances and death stares, noticed in "her" speeches she keeps crapping on about "being on the right side of history".

Apart from the empty arrogance and presumption of such a concept, it is a core element of the theories of Karl Marx.

The "right" side is having set out on a course of planned actions that must inevitably lead to the sunlit uplands of a socialist utopian society.*

*ignoring the small fact that these dogmatic economic theories date back to the mid 1800's and haven't exactly aged well

Hmmm, I've been thinking. Given that XR are keen on the Green, perhaps a more eco friendly method of dealing with their disruption might be in order.

I'm led to believe that the horse type soldiers in the funny outfits still carry sabres.

To that end, why not have a lovely cavalry charge with points, clear the roads and do so with very little POL use and the horseys will have had a nice day out.

Then, bring the carnivore/scavenger creatures over from the zoo to eat the dead.

Surely this would be an eco friendly solution?
