Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. All, I am planning to get an extension built onto the back of the house. Do I need planning permission from the local CC/ I want to go out but not up it will be 7 Mtrs by 2.7 mtrswith a sloping roof?

  2. Depends what % of the total square footage of the house you're adding on i think!
  3. Also look to see what your neighbours have this is good in your application for getting planning permission
  4. Alternatively, claim you are a "Traveller" and just go ahead.. the council will probably give you a grant and police will arrest any neighbours who object for being racist.
  5. The local council have booklets on this stuff. But upto a certain percentage increase in volume is permitted without planning consent. But informally its always wise to speak to them. I am also presuming that you are not in a Conservation Area and/or that your property is not a Listed Building.
