The Russian Navy denied Friday media reports of an explosion aboard a nuclear submarine under repair in Severodvinsk, on the White Sea, Thursday.

Igor Dygalo, an aide to the Russian Navy commander, said one of the submarine's main ballast tanks at a dockyard was damaged due to "excessive air pressure," which "dockyard officials are treating as a routine occurrence."

Dygalo said no one was injured in the incident, adding that the damaged tank would be repaired.

Igor Dayglo, who probably glows in the dark too if he works on Russian nuclear boats, stressed that the massive, radioactive cloud emanating from the former location of Severodvinsk was nothing to do with the reported explosion or with the Russian Navy. He added that the mile wide crater that had replaced Severodvinsk was caused by an unfortunate meteor strike.

Wasn't there a huge 'earthquake' off the coast of South Africa in about 1974 that's now thought to have been a Soviet missile boat going up?
