Exchanging and completing the same day

I'm selling my house and we are very close to exchange of contracts time, however, the estate agent and therefore presumably the buyer, have now said they want to exchange and complete on the same day.

There are no chains involved on either side. I know many people have successfully same-day exchanged and completed but my gut instinct, in the absence of any over-riding need, is to stick to the conventional route and have a gap between exchange and completion. I wonder though, whether I'm being reasonable in sticking to convention.

Logistically, eg arranging removals won't be a consideration for me, so I don't actually need the gap.

Be grateful for any views for or against same day exchange and completion.
