Detectives have launched an attempted murder inquiry after a man was shot on the Isle of Dogs last night, Tuesday 20 March.

Police were called at approximately 19:30hrs to reports of a shooting in Byng Street, E14.

The victim was shot a number of times as he entered a block of flats by a suspect who is described as white, 6ft tall and of slim build. He was wearing dark clothing and seen running from Byng Street away from Westferry Road.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and a man, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital. His condition is described as critical but stable.

Detectives from the Trident Gang Crime Command are investigating and are treating the shooting as attempted murder. They are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have information about the incident.

The shooting is not thought to be gang related or linked to any other incidents in Tower Hamlets. Local officers are patrolling the area and providing reassurance to the community.

There have been no arrests at this time and inquiries continue.

German Gorbuntsov was was shot as he entered a block of flats in Byng Street, Isle of Dogs, on Tuesday.

The Metropolitan Police are treating the shooting as attempted murder.

The suspect is said to be a white male who ran off along Westferry Road. No arrests have been made. Mr Gorbuntsov is said to be critical but stable.
