Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I used search to no avail so please don't give me a hard time for asking but it's bone question time.

As an ex regular what training would I need to complete to join the TA? Surely not the full 14 weeks.

  2. OK I'll risk it, how long have you been out?

  3. Bloody hell. Is it just me, or does that sound like an epic wah?

  4. I'm stuck at home with a bottle of brandy and feck all else to do so thought "in for a penny" and all that.

  5. Sounds like a good night in, to be honest.

  6. 14 months. Website says 14 weeks both TA/Regular which is unhelpful/confusing.

  7. I read somewhere that a chap who left in 89 fancied a stint with the TA. I'm sure he couldn't just walk back in.

  8. There's been a few threads about this before. I think the cut off point is five years, after that you'ver got to re-do basic. It's definitely not 14 weeks though!

  9. That's what I thought too. I understand it can be 'negotiable'.... Ah well, looks like I'll have to get off my fat hiney and do some searching myself.

The cut off is usually after 3 years.

The advice remains: go down to your local unit and ask.
