Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Just been watching something about the first ascent, Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. Gripping stuff of the highest order, real hardcore stuff, no modern 'homo gear', no GPS and stuff. 60 Years ago, 29th May '53.

But the question is always hanging there in my mind- Hillary and Tenzing or G.L. Mallory and Sandy Irvin? What do ARRSErs think?

  2. Even if he did summit, that's only half the trip completed
