I hope its the webcameron one that you're signing.

I joined the army in 1970, I was all to eager to get on the ranges and have a blast with the SLR, SMG and LMG. Brought up with airguns and shotguns I wanted to fire the real thing. Look at todays youth, scared to pick up a firearm, ooo mummy always told me it was bad to play with guns. Something is being taken from our potential soldiers today, spirit.

Young'uns today only get experience of firearms during mischief, they should be encouraged to get into a club and learn responsible shooting. Perhaps more would have the cojones to sign up and use that skill for real.

Really? I thought the problem was that the youth of today were overly familiar with firearms, knives, etc?

Maybe it's a fiendish EU plot to confuse us?

It the wrong kind of familiarity they seem to have. Education and training in responsible use is what they need. Either through the gun clubs or military service where there can gain knowledge and respect. There is a place for firearms and that is not on the street. The same can be said of knives and other matrial arts implements.

The recent crisis with Iran is a great reason not to join the EU. The lack of strong support from the EU for one of their member states shows that the EU policy is at odds with the UK. Iran does 40% of their trade with the EU so a threat of economic sanctions might actually end the crisis. For those that think the EU might surpass the US we actually see the lack of will to stand up for one of their members and the lack of will to lead.

1.
Half a league, half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!
"Charge for the guns!" he said:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.

2.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!"
Was there a man dismay'd?
Not tho' the soldier knew
Someone had blunder'd:
Their's not to make reply,
Their's not to reason why,
Their's but to do and die:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.

3.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Rode the six hundred.

4.
Flash'd all their sabres bare,
Flash'd as they turn'd in air,
Sabring the gunners there,
Charging an army, while
All the world wonder'd:
Plunged in the battery-smoke
Right thro' the line they broke;
Cossack and Russian
Reel'd from the sabre stroke
Shatter'd and sunder'd.
Then they rode back, but not
Not the six hundred.

5.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon behind them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
While horse and hero fell,
They that had fought so well
Came thro' the jaws of Death
Back from the mouth of Hell,
All that was left of them,
Left of six hundred.

6.
When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
All the world wondered.
Honor the charge they made,
Honor the Light Brigade,
Noble six hundred.
