Enhanced Learning Credits for TA?

#1
I've just found out that Regulars can have ELCs which, AIUI, have financial value and can be used to pay for some specialised courses.

This being the case, can TA soldiers apply? If so, how and how much can one expect?

TIA

Three one off payments of up to £1000. Rising to £2000 after 7 years of service... for regs.

We're trying to get rid of all you smelly TA types, so I doubt we'd give you such wedge for your time.

:D

Thats because this is "One Army".

....when the CoC want it to be one, two very different armies when it comes to respect, priorities and in particular - money.

I see no reason why this shouldn't be extended to the TA but, in the interest of fairness, I think that the Accumulated Eligible Service should be calcualted using MTDs for the TA.

Therefore, on 27 MTDs a year, you should reach the Lower Tier in 55 years.

Clearly the more active members of the TA would benefit in less time.

Thanks for personalising that. Working back and using my average MTDs over the years, and not including the periods of mobilisation or FTRS....
I'd have been eligible for the "lower tier" roughly 20 years ago.

The fact is that as a TA soldier I know damn well that I'm in the "lower tier" on just about every scale as far as the CoC thinks. Thank you for reinforcing that view.

Yup - I am currently mobilised and have signed up to do an MA. It was a bit galling to have to say that I would be writing a big cheque for the course fee, as I was not entitled to use ELCs. :(

Another case of the 'one army' joke...

Hey BB, are you trying to take over my 'money grabbing whiner' role on here?

OC

No, I'm seeing what can be done to make me an even better instructor. One of the options is run by an external provider which has to be paid for.

Phew... I thought my position on here was under threat for a while then!

Good luck with the course :)
