Engineering Team Leader – New Business
Reporting to Engineering Manager
Salary up to £40k

Purpose of Role
To design, develop and deliver commercial interconnection solutions to or clients customer’s
To support sales through the identification, concept design and costing of potential customer
To ensure customer satisfaction via high performance on the product development delivery and
customer quality performance metrics.
To ensure that Martec is sufficiently fast and flexible to quote and achieve lead times which
enable Martec to gain & maintain market share.
To ensure that product cost targets are consistently met, to achieve sales and profit targets.

• To promote new business opportunities in co operation with Sales
• To manage and co-ordinate new product introduction (NPI) activities from concept through to
customer acceptance, including management and update of design models.
• To project manage NPI activities in a thorough and effective manner to ensure;
o On time delivery
o Projects are managed to budget
o To develop and maintain good working relationships with customers and suppliers
o A smooth handover to Production.
• To represent the company in NPI meetings with customers both on and off site.
• To expedite new products; liaising where necessary with suppliers, development partners etc
to resolve threats to the programme and/or pursue opportunities for improvement.
• To manage and prepare responses to sales enquiries; liaising with Sales to ensure accurate
and technically compliant proposals.
• To deputise for the Engineering Manager when necessary.
• To support Operations to ensure the smooth implementation into series production of
developed product; by contributing to the resolution of production problems and/or the
introduction of new production processes.
• To support Quality in investigations, corrective actions, assessments and process
improvements, where appropriate to new product developments.
• To contribute to the review and propose engineering systems, processes and tools to
maximise business benefit / improvement initiatives for customer satisfaction and company
• To contribute to the Technology Plan for the identification and development of appropriate
technological developments to drive and consolidate business advantage.
