Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I have a copy of a 1905 copyright O.S. map (price 2 shillings - so quite expensive then) sheet 62 Cannock Chase. On the cover is written “W.G. Chapman, 2nd Gloucestershire Regt”.
On the back cover is written, in pencil, “Barracks - Enford Br 3 3/4 miles. Tried to google said barracks and nothing turned up. Any ideas? thanks

I know this is ressurecting but many small towns had barracks which are now long gone.

  3. Of course it's far too late to reply to this one but...

Googled Enford Bridge, and it's a bridge. In Enford. On Salisbury Plain. About 3 3/4 miles from Bulford and Tidworth.

Don't I feel pleased with myself.
