    A fantastic opening has emerged with a leading provider of ship power solutions, who offer sales and service support to vessels owned and operated by a number of chief shipping companies. A marine propulsion Service Engineer with excellent communication and customer relation skills, is required to provide support to the General Propulsion Manager.

    Educated to ONC/HNC level (or equivalent) in engineering, the ideal candidate will be trained or time served in a similar marine based role. Basic fitting skills are essential and the ability to carry out the stripping down, calibrating and evaluation of underwater propulsion components and complex pieces of machinery.

    The holder of this position will have first-rate problem solving skills, must be accurate, organised and capable of working to tight deadlines. You should have good working knowledge of ISO 9001/2000 as standard and understand technical drawings. You will be required to provide leadership to up to 10 engineers on site, making on the spot decisions and recommendations for your colleagues.

    The role is reporting to the General Manager of Propulsion Services (Glasgow), home based – this role is open to anyone within reasonable commuting distance to an airport. You should be open to travelling at short notice as this role will involve spending a large amount of time away on the job.

    The salary range is 30,000 to 35,000 basic; overtime is available in excess of the standard working hours (paid over 50 hours at 14ph). You will receive daily allowance for working away and travel time will also apply. 25 days holiday are included plus PMI and defined contribution pension.
