Darlington supplies engines in the mid-power range to over 200 different customers in 40 countries. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to support the Manufacturing Engineering team. Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will provide Manufacturing Engineering support for Engine Assembly and Test processes including leading new product introduction and driving improvement activities on quality, cost and delivery. As a highly experienced Manufacturing Engineer, your duties will include: - Using Manufacturing Engineering skills, knowledge and experience to identify and provide robust solutions and improvements to engine assembly and test processes. - Leading current product change and new product introduction activities with in designated areas. - Participating in Design FMEA's and leading Process FMEA's to develop defect free processes. - Identifying, developing and implementing capital equipment changes including raising RFAs and obtaining approval through to installation and commissioning. - Developing workstation layouts in conjunction with line balancing techniques to improve efficiency, accommodate new tooling and products and improvements to workstation TAKT times. - Developing process documentation and standard operations. - Reviewing and actioning Engineering releases. - Coaching / leading Manufacturing support technicians. - Leading and participating in quality improvement work and completing associated CAR's/CQM's including supporting Matrix Team problem solving activities - Managing area controllable expense budgets with respect to tooling and project expense. Ideally you will have a degree in Mechanical/Production Engineering related discipline, however HNC/HND with relevant demonstrable experience will be considered. You will have experience of working in a similar role within a complex assembly related manufacturing environment and have proven experience of delivery process improvements utilizing industry standard tools and techniques including lean manufacturing, poke yoke and ideally six sigma methodology. Knowledge of diesel engines is preferred along with experience of Industrial engineering skills. You must have excellent communication skills, be able to demonstrate attention to detail and have proven experience of working with in cross functional teams and under own initiative. .
