Ok, that's a bit over the top. Try going to Halfords. You can buy reels of cable in various sizes for a couple of quid.

Can't see anything on halfords website.. and its closed on Sundays..

I don't understand why you don't just reconnect the original wire, with a new female connecter as I suggested earlier?

I reconnected the old wire for now...

If you aren't bothered the high level brake light is not needed for the MOT. Make the wires safe with insulation tape and fit new strut.

Did you do a hard reset of the „discombobulated control unit“ that accesses the internal „Thons“ in the gas struts and balances them, ensuring a controlled release on operation preventing „Chassis Twistage“!?
