EHT or CMT?

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. First post.. Currently in the final stages of my application to the army. I only have one job choice at present EHT and im due to go to ADSC this week. However having read up much more on the roles available to me, I think I like the idea of CMT much more. Due to being a more frontline job and seeing more actions/tours? Does anyone know if it’s possible to change my job choice at this late stage? Or will the ADSC officer look down upon it? Finally am I correct in thinking that EHT is a much more behind the scenes role?

    Many Thanks Tom.

  2. Join as a CMT if that's what flicks your switch, thats what I did before I became a drain-sniffer. You can apply to be an EH Tech at a later stage of your career if you decide it's still your thing.

You'll have probably met a few EH Techs by then as well, so you can make your own mind up about whether you'll fit in or not :D

  3. Speak to your recruiter NOW before you attend ADSC, if you dont have time then discuss this with your ADSO when your interviewed at ADSC, you won't need to do the TST (Maths Test), but you'll need GCSEs in Maths C; Eng Lang C; Science C plus a Specialist Interview with the EH Guy's if successful at ADSC.

If your bright, have good GCSEs and a good GTI go for EHT or one of the other AHP CEGs, or if CMT flicks your switch, then flick your switch...

    Good luck to you.
