DV checks- email and Internet history

The number of US personal that will tell you about their TS/SCI clearances in a bar is astounding. After a few minutes conversation they’re keen to tell you they’re SEALs or Cryptographic Technicians, it's truly bizarre. Yet you try and get into a DoD facility without the correct paperwork, and then when they get it, they still insist in escorting you.
Makes me laugh. As part of NATO on a NATO IT system we were working hand-in-hand with US mil. They have a system called NIPR, which is unclassified, and a lot of their contractors use which then we needed. The hoops you have to go through just to get access from our point of view was stupid. 10 page form filling, online tests, forms coming back because 1 word was in the wrong place. Getting the computer was easy, getting the login was a different matter.

Buddy!

But then they tell everyone everything anyway. The number of serving US personnel I have been introduced to as a former Brit squaddie and within 10 minutes they are spilling the works.
Yup! Similar experience, probably featuring some embellishment a good 70% of the time.

Clearly Uni has been wasted upon you.
Do not start sentences with "so". If you are also one of these irritants who intersperses conversations with "like"," innit", and other torturous horrors, please stop.
Here endeth today's lecture.
Haha, I'm on a forum. Im not here to exhibit my language prowress. You get me fam

Answer any and all questions truthfully, don't try to hide anything. If what they find does not match what you tell them, they get a bit twitchy. They don't care about your porn habits (as long as they are legal), just tell them everything so that there are no secrets (and therefore nothing that could be used to blackmail you).
You mean Trump won't pass a DV check?

However if you have been using Tor Networks and Duck-Duck-Go to search for things it may make you a person of interest ..since your obviously trying to hide your history
TOR? Really?

As to duckduckgo - Only a subject of interest to Google, who demand their subjects have no search engine but google.

Surveillance Capitalism is a greater threat to the state than most things (except disaffected employees, perhaps). The Nation State is waking up to companies that have more resource, soft power (and often cleverer employees).

@Gogeta1998 Unless your sketchy postings include travel to Turkey, "www.ihatetheuk.co.uk", or "II have expensive habits and no income"?

Interviewer: What sort of pom do you like?
Oppo: No - not for me. Don't like it.
Interviewer: But if you did, what sort of things would you look for?
Oppo: Well - women who are x, y, and z...
Interviewer: What would your wife say?
Wife enters the room, who is x and y, and looks a bit z, and offers the interviewer a cup of tea.
Oppo: Yeah I really fancy my wife...
Interviewer: Okay.......

True dit.Apparently...

I had both my interviews in dingy offices in Berlin and Whitehall. No tea involved, and it wasn’t at home.

Now, about this porn...

I nearly misread that as you got interviewed in dungeon offices. Perhaps you needed to explain your liking for S&M?

Another dit: RAF bloke getting his DV finds himself in hot water as he failed to mention when he was at school he had a Saturday job in a garden centre, and the boss turned out to be in the Communist party.

How did his boss pass clearance ?

Just be truthful. Most vetting "fails" are because you lied or didn't come clean on certain questions.

Remember " It's not what you do: it's lying about doing it" that causes most vetting fails. The vetting officer has seen/heard a lot worse than you've done.

Lie about something and you're definitely out; come clean and they respect your honesty... (up to a point, obviously).

Good luck. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in 3MI Bn.
So now's the time to come clean about talibanschoolgirls.com

And don't forget to mention the visits to adultgoatfinder.com

Everyone looks at porn allegedly, as long as its not animals or children why worry.
If you do not look at far right ramblings you are fine.
Vetting officers do show some discretion and have seen/heard it all before.
