Dutch Jail Walt Thumpers

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Two Canadian soldiers were jailed in Amsterdam after being convicted of beating up a guy in a bar.. They managed to ' escape' being hit with ' hate crime ' charges because the judge ruled that their reasons for thumping the victim wasn't because of his sexual orientation despite them calling him a ' gay' and ' fag' whilst whacking on him.

seems what set them off was his swaning bout with military-style dog tags and other ' accoutrements' without ever having been a soldier..

think they needed a better lawyer, sounds justified to me..
  2. Does my head in when civvies swan about in military kit BUT, come on, do they seriously deserve a physical beating fo it?
  3. Ermmm ...... Yeah.
  4. Depends what the civvies have to say for themselves, when the ex and me were on holiday last month there was a guy in the bar all 'mil'ed up desert camo shorts, olive t and 'fashion' dogtags who came and sat next to us, we had a laugh which he took as an insult, and proceded to tell us he was serving, trouble was his mate and him had been talking about wanting new jobs because the building site they worked on was run by someone they didnt like, so we laughed some more. Eventually he moved but only far enough that he couldnt hear us laughing as we left he attempted to start a fight (I say attempted because walking away from him he was still threatening to flatten us both).

Some people need a beating to remind them of what mil life really is (and it isnt a fashion item).
  5. I am obviously the fluffy one here...no wonder I always had to look after the crows :D
  6. Jimi Hendrix was arrested in London in the 60's for impersonating an officer, because he was wearing a hussar's dolman.
  7. I was arrested in military uniform once. Mind you, I was pished at 2 in the morning in Sennelager, trying to make my way back home when the monkies showed up. I tried to run for it but couldn't make my left leg work properly, fell and was promptly set upon. The rest is a blur.
  8. At least Jimi was a squaddie at one point... 82nd Airborne. In fairness to the coppers who knicked him though, it wasn't just the dolman that led them to believe that he was impersonating a Cav officer- you have to remember what his hair looked like too.
  9. It was the 101st Airborne, and he got kicked out after serving only 1 year. He was considered a sub-par soldier and was once caught sleeping on guard duty.
  10. Ord_Sgt

    Ord_Sgt RIP

But he did serve though. Who's never slept on gaurd, yep everyone, you just didn't get caught.
  11. I was on guard at the old Puckeridge ammo compound in Aldershot and was stagging on with a huge hangover one Saturday and decided to get my head down on the grass bank. Rudely woken by a 2 Para Sgt who almost broke my jaw as he kicked me awake. Point taken, lesson learnt.
  12. Apparently two of the biggest complaints levelled against Hendricks was that he played a guitar off-duty and this http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/0803051jimi13.html

God help any army where this was a sackable offence...

In most armies Specialist Mattox would be the one being talked about.
  13. I never slept on guard duty. I lost my rifle once though. An officer took it while I was sleeping.
