Am planning a 5-7 day drive from hampshire to rome in July - anyone have any suggestions as to which is the best route to take? would prefer scenic rather than shortest distance - any places as to avoid too please.
  2. I would recommend a drive to Heathrow, then jump on a plane.

Thanks PA such a help ;o)
Thanks pillager, Im just reading some of the forums on there now
  5. Don't actually drive IN Rome if you want to enjoy yourself there. Even other Italians won't drive in Rome if they can avoid it.
  6. Down to Lyon to Nice then down coast of Italy to Rome. Approx 1200 miles

Come back via Switzerland/Germany. Approx 1300 miles

  7. Plymouth to Santander on the ferry. Ca 200KM depending on where you start.
Drive across Spain to Barcelona - 700KM
Ferry from Bracelona to Civitavecchia and drive into Rome 70km.

Keeps you away from the French. :)

  9. Take a compass bearing, your house to Rome and follow it as closely as possible and don't look at the route beforehand and enjoy the new places you visit.
