Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Im looking to Re-enlist, ive read about this job on the Army web site but could any body go into a bit more detail such as what jobs would I 'really' be doing on operations, would i even get sent on operations, also what does day to day life consist of in this job role at a unit. The Army website says youl be doing this and that but it would be good to hear from people serving in the RLC as a Driver/comms specialist.
    Cheers in advanced

  2. the phrase driver comms spec is the new name for driver rad op.

  3. i'm joining the army as a driver comm specialist and dont know what army regiment to put down can u give any advice????

  4. what do you mean? Is the Recruitment Office asking you for this info? As far as I understand it, you will join phase 1 trg establishment then complete phase 2 where you will then be asked for your posting preferences, which will then be ignored by MCM Div and you'll end up in the arrse end of nowhere painting wheel nuts. Or are you being bone?

  5. well i am going for my selection weekend on the 20th and i heard they ask what regiment i wanted to join.

  6. err.........tick RLC then.

    Stop being bone!

  7. When you get to Pirbright, you will be briefed by the RLC staff on the units and options for you. As a Comms Spec, you have a very wide range of units, not all of them RLC. Do not overly worry about the unit, you will be assigned one. If you have any strong preferences, put them down on your dream sheet; unit, country, area etc. In the short run, just get to Pirbright, keep out of the poo, and 'enjoy' the basic training. It will not be long before you are let loose on your first unit.

  8. can you give me any information on postings in rlc comms spec due to i need to try and figure out how far me my gf and 3kids would move to where are the married HQs ????????

  9. Comms Specs are not just posted to one or two specialist units rather they are found in all RLC Regts, Med Regts and a few other odds and sods. You could therefore be posted in all manner of locations in the UK and abroad (predominantly in Germany).

  10. 102 Bde married 4 Brigade last year but it's not a proper marriage cos they are both men brigades and they seperated after 4 Bde got caught in 3 way with 20 Bde and Jarrod. You could try 3 Bde as they are currently Involsep with 7 Bde (lezzers) and the only only hetero Bde out there at the moment is 43 Wessex Bde but he's a bit boring and keeps trying to get into 1 Divs knickers...............

    Sort your ******* english out!
