  1. Hi guys,

    This is my 2nd choice of job and I've done my research about it including all the training locations/duration for phase 1 and 2.

    Just looking for some information/shared experiences on the job from serving RLC soldiers and hopefully some serving driver/comms specs.

    Looked through all the older threads on this, has the job changed much in the last few years? What kind of deployment can I expect? Will I be working with other corps/regiments or just RLC squadrons? What's life like at battalion?

    Any information is appreciated.

    I'm not a driver/comms spec but I have worked with them. As far as I can tell the job hasn't changed much in recent times. Deployments - the same as everyone else, if your unit deploys odds are you will too. You will work with other Corps. Prime examples are REME Bns which all have a Command Troop manned by RLC Dvr/comms spec. Life in the Bn, pretty much depends on which one you go to. Quite busy on exercise but in camp a lot of maint of vehicles and eqpt. Bonus of this trade is that you can be selected for promotion from both the driver and the comms spec boards. Not a lot of info I know but I hope it helps a little.

    Is it mainly just landrovers that comms spec drive/operate out of? As I know you get C and C+E driving licenses up at leconfield too.

  4. Always bear in mind that on ops..particularly herrick..good chance of operating as a driver/topcover as required, especially at Pte /L/Cpl level.
