Registration in Conwy tonight for Dragon's Back Race. Last time it ran, 1992, logistics support was provided by Parachute Regiment, and race was won by a civilian pair, Helene Diamantides and Martin Stone, who beat many all male and military pairings. Helene is running again in 2012, having married and become Whitaker. At least one runner is raising money for Parachute Regiment charity. In brief, race is 200 miles and 45,000 ft ascent over 5 days, with civilian caterers, overnights in tents, mostly in farmers' fields.

Well, it's over for 2012 - see News - Recent - The Dragon's Back Race™ for reports, films etc. An amazing week, with 4 of the 1992ers reaching end point, the last being a 61 year old woman. At least 2 of the team leaders, and perhaps other marshals, too, were ex army.
