Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. i'm half way through my phase 2 training for the royal engineers and i have torn my cruciate and medial ligaments and lost some cartlide in my knee. i require surgery on my knee i have been told and may be downgraded if my knee isnt good enough.

    what does being downgraded mean?

At the minute they have put me on long term sick and i am bored as feck i am not even allowed to do any acedemic courses while i'm waiting around doing feck all except making tea  :?
  2. maybe they wont let you do any academic courses because you can't spell academic.
  3. Nob.
  4. Funny stuff, but not very helpful, gents! :p

Downgraded: Being made unfit for front line service, effectively. Or so my recruiting sergeant said earlier. I guess in something like the RE it would be quite a detriment to be downgraded.
