The government are advising against all non-essential travel to and from Leicester.

This seems to be entirely wise advice. There’s also an increased risk of catching COVID 19 if you go there.

I have been watching the news about all these illegal parties around the country but I cannot see any common denominator.

Seems the place is more like a district of Islamabad than a UK city

Administering a REME workshop, I had a lot of dealings with RPO Leicester and a civil servant called Patel.

Until I discovered that all the civil servants were called Patel. Just saying.

This Leicester “lockdown” has all the telltales of a classic Boris clusterfuzzle.
One of my sons lives in a suburb of Leicester (Wigston) and knows nothing about it other than what is reported on the BBC, so he will continue commuting to Northamptonshire.
As all non-essential shops are to close, but non-essential travel is only “not recommended“, what do they think people are going to do? Did it not occur to anyone, that unless a travel ban is enforced, they will all head to the nearest shops etc. that are open? Thus spreading the problem.

A problem is that no-one will come out and say in the mainstream media why there is a particular problem in Leicester.

That needs to happen - otherwise, frankly, this will keep happening.

Covid spike in Leicester? 3 weeks after Eid.....you don't say!

Ha ha, apologies! Over lock down I've attempted to learn how to do cryptic crosswords. I'm crap. Out of embarrassment and for the sake of my dignity, I've removed the crossword clues.

I've been to Leicester, you're seeing it on a good day.

Meeting another white man in the northern half of the city is like Stanley meeting Livingstone.

Yet according to the Labour Shadow Chancellor and Shadow Health Secretary, given extensive time on the Beeb this morning, it’s all the fault of, er, Boris and the Tories.
Just like the grooming gangs fiasco, no one will come out and say it like it is, for fear of upsetting Yasmin Alibhai-Brown and her ilk.

It took an Asian Labour Councillor to acknowledge the reason for the cause this morning on the BBC (because everyone else was swerving the obvious - both interviewer and interviewees), however that it was the governments fault that nobody there understands English as no information or guidance has been translated.

Friend of mine had to visit Islamabad for Big Blue couple of years back...long before COVID-19 appeared.

Armed escort for closed car drive from the airport to the hotel.....same from hotel to site...same in reverse back to the airport.

I'm not sure he saw too much of the town.
