The heart of the site is the forum area, including:
Why are George boots called George boots ?
All help appreciated.
In what way will knowing this information change your life?
George, of ASDA fame.
Why are boots called boots?
After that Puss geezer innit
I thought it was Boy George
Just interested to know why, not a wha , just a genuine interest in a little bit of military history
Thought it was jorge
It may have something to do with King George having an interest in one of the Scots Regiments Pipes and Drums.
If memory serves he had some input into their uniform so the name may have come from there.
What an interesting life you must lead to consider such questions.
You are on the right track there Alfa. I read somewhere that he was quite taken withe boots and required his mistress to wear a pair, just the boots and nowt else, and creep into his sleeping quarters carrying a flickering candle. Well, all her mates heard about it and they all wanted a pair. Became quite the fashion. They made a man of him, as I believe that he wound up with about twelve kids. You'll find more on Wikipedia, if you look hard enough.
Er yeah, it is a wet sunday evening where I am.

And the German Jack boot ?
And Ugg boots. Besides the fact they look shite and only ugly wimmen wear them.
