Does anyone know if the Argylls Balaklava club in Stirling has closed?

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hi. As it says above. Anyone any info? Cheers
  2. Don't know, give them a call:

The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Social Club
Unit 7, First Floor, Stirling Arcade. Telephone: 01786 445 970
  3. The closure is front-page news on today's Stirling Observer. There's nothing up on their website yet.
  4. Cheers. Saw the local paper. Shame. Says they are having a memorabilia auction this weekend to raise a bit of cash to clear debts. So looks like a pretty terminal closure.
  5. I've read loads about them trying to get money left, right and Chelsea, even from the Bn but everybody is skint. Apparently they need to be clearing around £2000 a year to remain solvent. Just another sad casualty of this Royal Regiment of Scotland Pish.

    Or another reminder of reality?
  7. MSR the club has suffered for the last few years. I haven't drank in it for 5 years now.

After the Great War, my grandfather joined the RS Club in Glasgow. It was the best way to keep in touch with his comrades.

    I rest my case.
