Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Have seen the thread on here about the Dickinson woman on "I'm a celebrity with no career and am hoping to kick start it again blah blah blah" and it has raised a serious question in my mind.

We know that peoples last names are derived from where they lived, what they did for a job etc.

Bearing that in mind, ask yourself, what exactly are the origins of the name dick-in-son? 8O

  2. Who is this Dickinson woman? Never heard of her. Is this shite series back on telly again? For the love of god..

  3. Angie Dickinson, of "Policewoman" fame? Now there was someone who used to get my adolescent juices flowing!

  4. Biped

My surname is 'AL'. Apparently it comes from the forename Biped.

I'm not sure if it means 'Someone who cycles a bicycle using both pedals' or just a creature with two, as opposed to two hundred legs.

    Hope this helps.

  5. Better than being a Bisexual Paedo then!
