Dickinson

Have seen the thread on here about the Dickinson woman on "I'm a celebrity with no career and am hoping to kick start it again blah blah blah" and it has raised a serious question in my mind.

We know that peoples last names are derived from where they lived, what they did for a job etc.

Bearing that in mind, ask yourself, what exactly are the origins of the name dick-in-son? 8O

My surname is 'AL'. Apparently it comes from the forename Biped.

I'm not sure if it means 'Someone who cycles a bicycle using both pedals' or just a creature with two, as opposed to two hundred legs.

Hope this helps.
