Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

  1. Hi,

I know I'm getting a little ahead of myself here, considering that I am still yet to pass ADSC, but I was wondering how soon recruits in the Royal Signals can be deployed on active duty i.e. to Iraq or Afghanistan.

Is it a matter of choosing to get deployed, or do you have to do tours at home first?
How many active duty tours can you do (as many as you want/or whatever is given to you)?
Do you get to select which unit you service with in the Royal Signals?
If you want to do as many active duty tours as possible, which unit is best to join?

Apologies for all the questions - really eager to get in and start my Army career.

    Cheers,

    Matt

  2. 1. As soon as you get to your unit and are suitibly trained.

    2. If the Unit requires you to deploy, you will.

    3. Depends on which Unit you are at the time and whether they are deploying.

    4. Mostly, they will try and send you where you want, but the service comes first.

    5. At this moment in time, any one.
