Can anyone help me out with a copy of one of these. It is for a friend who has lost her original one.

I don't need any other version of Vista, nor any keygen / cracks / warez etc.

Is there a certificate of authenticity on the computer? It'll be stck on the case somewhere with something like ABCDE-12345-67908-ZXCVB-09876
    printed on it.

If so, you can use any 32 bit Vista DVD, and when asked you type in that code. Windows setup will recognise it as a legit code, and install the corresponding version of Vista.

    Yes, there is.

I will give this a try, but would still like to have the correct DVD to hand ;)

I'ts really not necessary - the certificate code is not "on" the disk - there's just an algorithm that recognises legitimate codes.

Some of the mongs who bring me their PC's to fix have either lost their DVD ROM too, or never got one in the first place. I just use one of my disk images with their certificate code.

I don't doubt what you are saying, but I have never heard of being able to use 'any' DVD before, so the request for assistance still stands.

The only vista DVD I have is for a Medion system. I presume the Dell one comes with all the correct Dell drivers.

  6. Fair enough, the only ones I have are actual Microsoft ones. You might find that the Dell drivers are on another disk, though, usually blue with white writing.

I have a unopened drivers disc which came with that very laptop...I bought a new dell 3 weeks ago

I'll send it to you to copy if you are stuck,
I'd send you a copy but I'm not really good at that sort of thing....being old and daft.

I used the 'Upgrade your Windows Vista Experience' DVD and it worked perfectly.

    Many thanks
