Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

  1. This may be a simple problem, and i hope somebody can help.
I have a 17in flat screen Dell monitor, and it has gone loopy on me.
The power button keeps flashing, and I can't turn the bugger on.
Disconnected the power supply, and the comp/monitor cable.
Nothing has worked, and i can't surf porn at the moment :(
    Any Ideas?

  2. I had one blow up at work and another keep putting strange messages on, can't recall what they were. Utter shite.

  3. From the Dell Support pages (search on 17 inch monitor power flash)

"Very common or should I say too common a problem with these monitors. Your monitor is dead, but it can be repaired. The high voltage inverter amplifier circuit that powers the backlight CCFL tubes is not working. Sometimes you can just replace the C5707 transistors and resolder all the HV transformers and it will last for another year or so before the circuit blows again."

Dunno if this helps - I suspect not. Looks like a new monitor may be in your future, as I'm not sure they're worth the cost of repair ...

Until you get it fixed or replaced it, can you not just connect to your TV.
