Defence: UKIP Policy

Defence: UKIP Policy
Tuesday, 14th June 2011

Over the years, successive governments have starved the British armed forces of money. This has meant insufficient equipment, overstretched resources and excessive tours of duty, which can badly damage the fabric of family life. UKIP has huge regard for our Armed Forces and the work they do. We are prepared to provide proper defence resources and bring an end to devastating cuts. UKIP will:

· Bring back men carrying messages in cleft sticks to speed up the delivery of information

Now it makes Sense to me!

Defence: UKIP Policy

Over the years, successive governments have starved the British armed forces of money. This has meant insufficient equipment, overstretched resources and excessive tours of duty, which can badly damage the fabric of family life. UKIP has huge regard for our Armed Forces and the work they do. We are prepared to provide proper defence resources and bring an end to devastating cuts. UKIP will:

· Spend an extra 40% on defence annually, another 1% of GDP

· Restore the Royal Navy to its 2001 strength with three new aircraft carriers and nearly 70 other ships, at the same time guaranteeing the future of the Plymouth, Portsmouth and Rosyth bases

· Increase RAF capability by buying more essential helicopters, transport aircraft and 50 extra JSF Lightning aircraft

· Restore historic regiments, such as the Highland regiments, which are being subsumed into planned European battle groups

· Strengthen our commitment to NATO, while withdrawing from all EU operations

· Reappraise our operations in Afghanistan to create a single, clear and achievable mission or seek to negotiate a withdrawal with our NATO partners

· Maintain Britain’s independent nuclear deterrent with existing Trident submarines and then replace them with four British-built submarines armed with US missiles

· Cut MOD bureaucracy, which has one civil servant for every two military personnel

· Introduce better pay, conditions and medical care for the British Armed Forces personnel and their families

· Introduce a ‘National Defence Medal’ respecting the service of all armed forces personnel and not just those who saw combat

· UKIP believes that British forces should not be involved in the Libyan situation.

Makes Sense to me!
I've something to tell you about politicians, they tell lies.

It's been doen already. To save the OP using the search function let me summarise:

UKIP can promise to give every serving soldier a mlilion quid and a go on their daughters. It makes no odds since they'll never get to implement it.

If they could implement it, they'd cunningly decide other important factors prevented them, did any party stick to the election manifesto's?

Was wondering how the roth of Murdoch will take it's revenge on the tories. Carn't see them courting labour so will he start being nice to UKIP? there is a test of integrity.

I believe the Lib Dems have discovered the perils of promising the earth to get elected. And the Tories seem to have forgotten their promises to have a bonfire of all the new laws we saw under the last government. Althought the Tories did promise that times would be tough. And they've stuck to that

And they'll print a shedload of Reichsmarks, Zimbabwean dollars and Vietnamese Dongs to pay for it all.
They don't answer the crucial question, though. When will you get paid this month?

Manifesto's should be legally binding.
At least that way the electorate have some hope of getting what they vote for and politicians would be obliged to make an effort to stop spouting bullshit

North Sea oil has probably contributed rather more to the decline of the Highland regiments than the looming spectre of European BGs.
And the demographics that a province with approximately 10% of the UK population is supposed to be raising 17% of the regular infantry plus its share of the various other corps and contributing to the RN and RAF... All in the name of "preserving history regiments" that have in some cases been around since the last centuary (early 1990s).

Ok lets carry on in the same manner that we have done for the last 30 years. Lets not even try to change anything. Lets not give the 3 big parties a bloody nose, maybe 'Respect' will do it for us.
If you'd used the rather handy search function you'd have seen this had been covered 9 months ago. And the manifesto had been torn to shreds then as wishful thinking based on never actually having to implement/pay for it. You want a serious debate of issues without being mocked as a chod? Do the following:-

1/ Find an orginal article that hasn't been covered.
2/ Create a new username cos that one has been tainted as a reactionary little-Englander moron.

Of course all these Radical parties either UKIP, Green, BNP etc etc make these wonderful Policy pledges, knowing full well in reality they'll never be put into practice.

No money along with Politicians telling fibs to get into office, then blaming each other for the damn mess the Country is now in, while joe Public is enthusiastic of the smaller parties wanting to make a change. Here's a wake up call, certain parts of Society have short memories, will despise the Coalition for clearing up the mess & were back to square one yet again.

You honestly think Mad George & his 'Respect' party will make a difference you are living on a different planet.
