Defence Spending - The future out of EU

Hypothetical question and as wanted serious discussion put it in here...

Now that we are leaving the EU, should we ramp up defence spending and increase the size of the Armed Forces. My theory behind this is that we will be free of EU constraints and although part of NATO we will need to look and protect our own interests, especially if the territorial waters need patrolling, Gib needs protection from Spanish aggression. Is it also in our own interests to bring back to the UK any MOD contracts that are earmarked for production abroad i.e. new MBT.

doubtful - money will be tight, manpower elusive, and there will be ,amy de,amds on the Treasury for resource. We will likely look at flat real terms, maybe cuts for next few years till we know how economy is doing.
