Defence secretary on Sky news

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. The defence secretary Is about to talk in sky news regarding procurements. Should be interesting.

  2. Apparently the MOD waste billions on late, scrapped and deferred procurements, well shock horror, never knew that. Will be interesting to see how they plan to stop it from happening.

  3. Yup the MOD have wasted billions, however Cameron and Fox are busy scrapping billions more in kit that is operational.
The bloke is a ****. North Africa and chunks of the Middle East are in turmoil and all he is doing is to continue scrapping as much of UK defence as he can,as fast as he can.

  4. Glossed it over with the offer of help to New Zealand after the earthquake. Thought he may have been interrogated more, to be honest.

I don't blame this government for the state of the country and MOD, but we waste stupid amounts on honouring commitments to money grabbing firms such as:

    Babcocks
    Aramark
    MODern housing
    Turner

It is about time that this is tackled, money wasted is equipment for the front line.

You forgot BAE off that list.

  6. ... And 'waste-lands helicopters'.

  7. It is this government that came up with the bollox that is the SDSR.
If they are determined to get costs under control where is the refund for Nimrod? We are told it is a crock that won't fly yet we've paid £4 billion for scrap.

  8. But the MOD negotiated a cracking deal to have the scrap collected and taken away. They are paying Paddy £10000 a tonne!

  9. £200 million to BAe to carve up aircraft we have paid £3.9 billion for......
And Fox has the balls to sit there on telly and preach about spending **** ups.

  10. Thought we might have got Dr Fox's chart of the top 29 procurement cock-ups.

  11. Gawd this is all very depressing. Thank **** the sun is shining here!

  12. Guess what,
Babcock has won the bid for prime contracting to BFG housing and barrack repairs / maintenance. I bet everyone will be impressed with the service and the cost reductions!!
