For months, even years, I have struggled to understand some of the charges, abreviations and acronyms that Glasgow use in the monthly pay statement. It's time we got some of these clarified...

So, first question is: In the Charges and Deductions column, what the hell are Service Days Pay Giving?

Charity deduction, you'll have signed up to it at some point, most likely in training when you didn't have a clue.

1 days pay out of your entitled 365 each year is used for charitable purposes.

What's AIP?

Accelerated incremental progression, you go up an increment when you complete a relevant course.

If you have any it usually means your either a sprog or crap at your job :D

Advanced Incremental Progression.

Every year, you move 1 increment up the pay scale, on the anniversary of your substansive promotion date.

Certain courses however (such as achieving class 1 status, depends on your cap badge and trade) award an automatic jump 1 band up the scale. Your substantive date is not affected.

If you have 1 AIP available, as soon as you qualify, you will move 1 band up the pay ladder.

Spaz beat me to it.

Ok, get it. I've turned my class one down two years in a row now so that'll be it then. Cheers again.

So...

SLA : 07-JUL-08 to 31-JUL-08 41.75 (1.67 per day) Eh?

The 8 digits at the top is your Regimental Number. You need that.

The letters? That's your name, people shout it at you.

Cool

So why would this happen:

Daily Food Charge Arrears: 01-MAY-08 - 31-MAY-08: -7.78(0.25 per day)

Why would it be 0.25 per day?

Because at 0800hrs tomorrow morning, you need to ask your clerk. Jesus, man.
