    Not entirely sure that this belongs in the Photography Forum, except that his images and those of the photographers who worked for him during his time as Bureau Chief in Saigon, inspired many of us to pick up a camera. There are some examples on the link below.

    I worked very briefly for him when he was in London in the early 1990's and he was a very hard task master. Absolutely demanded perfection and accepted no excuses. Very much an old style "F8 and be there!" type of photo editor. RIP.

    (oddly the Mail article jointly credits him with the Mukthi Bahini execution picture from the Bangladesh War, which is the first time I've come across that and am sure is wrong)

    :-D Don't think he got beyond the Hitler Youth in truth.
     
  4. He got a joint Pulitzer with Michel Laurent in 1972 for them.
     
  5. Whatever happened to his mate Tim Page, who used to live in Headcorn?
