Dead Pool 2022

There's a scene in the Railway Man where he cooks rice for his new lady friend.
A lot of returning FEPOW's had issues with their stomach's and bowls making them really ill.
After a lot of tests the doctors found that their bodies were literally addicted to rice as that's all they had lived on for years
Many spent the rest of their lives having to supplement their diets with bowls of rice just to stay healthy.

Lemmy was in The Railway Man?

What next? Ginger Baker playing the lead in Brief Encounter?

“And they‘re off”.
Well Lester Piggot is off this mortal coil and after a short illness the great champion jockey and tax dodger failed to beat the grim reaper.
RIP Lester, you scoundrel you.

A link which lists his achievements, a brilliant jockey.

Him and Ken Dodd are with the great accountant in the sky now - Turf accountant in Lester's case

An odd story about Lestor Piggot at the 1988 Scottish League Cup Final, Rangers vs Aberdeen - apparently he had a ticket for the Rangers end and wanted to be in the Aberdeen end. A Rangers supporter who could only get a ticket outside the ground for the Aberdeen end was looking to try and get to the Rangers end inside. He told these Rangers supporters his predicament, and they told him there was this weird old man who looked like Lester Piggot with a ticket for the Rangers end and wanted to be in the Aberdeen end. He stood scanning the crowd looking for this old man and couldn't see him. He eventually walks in the turnstiles and sees him, in a light raincoat looking exactly like Lestor Piggot. He approaches him and asks if he has a ticket for the Rangers end to swap for one at the Aberdeen end. "Lester" looks bemused and confused that this is happening, swaps the ticket and offers to pay him the difference (Aberdeen ticket cost more). He declines, and they go their seperate ends.

Now, it was Lester, but why would he be at a Scottish football final?

Given that Piggot was a known miser, I find this bit mysterious
