Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Now D.I.Y tactical store has closed down dose anyone know where I can get d.i.y ammo pouch kits from ? I fancy having a stab at making one.

just buy the fabric or strip down a old one, fastex will send you 5 free samples from their website. I chopped down a standard double to a single as I liked three ammo and one utility/grenade pouch on my rig.

easiest kit to alter was the SA assault vest as I had fewer bleeding fingers :)
  3. You could get your gran to knit you some.

wouldnt crochet make him look more ally?
  5. Yes multicam wool would have to be used
  6. Thats my trick. I also contacted Reflexite and 3M for samples of the reflective stuff that goes on plod cars and bikes - bloody yards of it arrived.

For fabric check out ebay: cordura 500; cordura 1000.

Fastners, webbing, velcro and loads more: ACE Supplies//Plastic buckle and plastic hardware components manufactured by ITW Nexus with Hook and Loop Tape ,webbing and elastic and shockcord

I picked up a cordura goretex dpm basha for a tenner off ebay the other year as it was cheaper but goretex cordura? were they aiming for a breathable rucksack or super heavy bivvy bag.

the fastex offer is pretty cool, I got a load of 25mm clips with built in whistles for paracord bracelets. I've been trying to persuade the neighbours to log on for me so I can get a load more.

they are bit freer with samples over there than here. ask for a sample and you get a 4x4 swatch
  8. I got those bits in the UK, I have'nt had time to start scrounging over here yet.

Can't remember where the 3M place was but the Reflexite was in Oxford the first time, then I think they moved to Oireland when I moved house and asked for more 'samples'........for a road safety project.

Ace supplies whose linky I gave above does most everything you could need in the way of fastners, velcro, webbing and the like.

Pointnorth is an excellent source of small quantities of fabric including cordura and pertex.
