Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. British troops will get 80 high-tech Cutlass remote-controlled bomb disposal robots under a £65 million contract, the Ministry of Defence announced. The robots are said to be faster, nimbler and more powerful than the Wheelbarrow machines used since the 1970s. They also enable bomb squads to deal with a wider range of explosives than previously. Lord Drayson, the Defence Procurement Minister, said: “The availability of technology to the terrorist has altered the complexity of the explosive devices we face.”

Probably released in response to all the bad press about the MoD not supplying enough kit to the troops 8O Very similar actually to New Liabours tactic of trying to bury bad news :x

  7. To Quote Englishspringer "Probably released in response to all the bad press about the MoD not supplying enough kit to the troops Very similar actually to New Liabours tactic of trying to bury bad news " How very true and how long between announcing and actual deployment I wonder?

The wheelBarrow we had at Bruggen in the late 80'searly 90's was so old & knackeredwe were supprised it worked! But considering we would mainly be dealing with Air-dropped munitions in a wartime situation I'm not suprised.
Still think who ever came up with the Pig Stick was a genius!!!
