CSM at 19!!!

Just got back from a battlefield tour of Ypres and the Somme and came across this chap buried at Thiepval Wood. I can only begin to imagine the casualties that must've led to his promotion. Does anyone know his story?

N N N N Nineteen?

Was reading something about bomber crews in WW2 and the ages of most of those blokes was very young (or at least it seems so to my aged mind).

Bloody Hell! That was quick CQMS! Cheers. What an amazing young man he must've been.

ACAB, that's what I said when I saw his grave!

Many years back I heard of a Canadian WO1 aged 16, lied when joining at 14 and heavy casualties.

Yet to find anything to substantiate it.

Perfect a Brewmeister finding a hero who once worked in a Brewery. Wonder which of the many Tadcaster breweries of the time, it was. I will drink to his memory tonight with a pint of Samuel Smiths' Old Brewery Bitter(Tadcaster) tonight.
