I assume these are the exhausts, if so I bet they created a blast and a half? Were the infantry warned to approach the telephone only head-on?
I do believe they are the exhausts, yes. Presumably the tank 'phone would not be used unless the thing was static and idling or creeping forward at very low revs, though.
