ah the East End, here be dragons.

E14 Poplar And E16 Custom House for me, just as the docks where dying in the 70’s.
Went back for a look around @2000, Poplar was like the Bokhara Market, ‘wachu doin ere white boi’, Custom House was properly menacing, it was made very clear I was very not welcome, - It was very much not ‘england’.

You clearly have your markets mixed up, Bokhara Market is great, and no where near some pigin English Africa, Google sold you a puppy, again. Travel much?

You at least will know I was not exaggerating in my post about my old area ( Ilford ) .
It was not a bad area until 20 years ago then it turned into a cesspit .
One of the many parts of London that do require nuking from orbit .
Edited to insert the word many

when I lived up there, there was only a small Somali community in Shadwell, former merchant seamen mostly, no problem, decent sorts, walking back home at night through there was safe enough.
The new ones out your way brought a world of ultra violence. I regard everything East of Limehouse Cut as off limits, where civil society stops

funny how Londons East changed. All the Cockneys went off to Romford, all the Jews moved down to Canvey Island

Someone must be extremely determined to want to cross the channel in a small inflatable open boat but agree, cracking down on traffickers is the only real way to stop or at least reduce it.

I say again. They know damn well its illegal. They are criminals and should be treated as such! (my amendment, 'desperate' does NOT apply)

On the news today, British holidaymakers trying to get home from France before 4am quarantine lockdown.

alternate to ferries and Eurostar?

they were booking rides with French fishermen.
All done by phone, all very organised.

cost per seat, a bit more than Eurostar.

As long as we rescue them and bring them to our shores they’ll keep coming.
By all means rescue them but escort them straight back to France.
If the French don’t like it, tough maybe they should stop them getting into France and then helping them in their journey to Calais.

Has RN involvement been officially confirmed? If so, what form will it take? I presume there are no plans to stick an OPV in the Straits of Dover, or to deploy Merlin HM2 or Wildcat HMA2 (both have capable Electro-optical systems)?

Is this just politicians wanting to do something to appease some sections of the media and public, and of course backbenchers?

Cut out the middle man. For economic migrants, offer safe passage at vastly reduced risk and better conditions, direct from source to destination, wherever that may be, not necessarily their first choice. Conditions apply.

Genuine refugees and endangered minorities don't get charged. Those who share our values are welcome.

Offer the communists, anti-Western types and those that just HATE this country so much free passage to the totalitarian utopia of their choice. Frankly I think we have had enough of their types already.

Some Immigration and NGOs need a stiff talking to without coffee.

but escort them straight back to France.

The likelehood of the French taking them back without outrageous conditions being imposed is miniscule.

The problem would probably decease hugely if all illegal migrants were take to an offshore detention centre for processing for possible entry, or repatriation is carried out.

The flow of asylum seekers to Australia was dramatically slowed when the centres did not happen to actually be in Australia. It was a place where some would actualy volunteer to be repatriated from back to their homelands.

They are illegals, and if accorded the present treatment, it can only confirm the UK as the ultimate refuge to be aimed for and encourage yet more, along with those who make money from facilitating their passage here.

So Isle of Sheppey it is then:???:

We have been told off by the UN and told to step up search and rescue efforts.
The RN will not be blocking migrants, but will be assisting Border Force.
That’s the Border Force now run ragged acting as a full time SAR service.

I feel very sorry for the poor bastards in the RNLI stations around Dover, they really must be a combination of run ragged, pissed off and in many (most?) unpaid and forced to help.

The RN will just wind up as Grey Funnel ferry services to the UK. It's the wrong call to use them unless they have orders to take the invaders and dump them on a French beach, which they won't get.

Take the sugar off the table. Until you do that, the ants will keep coming.

I don't think he was suggesting that we give the French a choice - probably had fetching the outboards off the dinghies, taking them on tow and cutting the tow when close enough to a French beach for the momentum and set of the tide to take the boat to land in mind as a game plan. Border Farce turns around and speeds back to our side. Rinse and repeat until Macron gets the message.

Or, at least, that's how I read his post between the lines.

Easier said than done, the Government needs to operate within the law or be able to implement new law.

Currently the EU and MS have very clear rules and laws on how an Asylum seeker is to behave and how they are to be treated.
If an Asylum seeker needs to move country then they have to fulfill a set of criteria before they can do it.
However there are those that don't want to follow the rules and want to pay to circumnavigate the authorities.
Until the UK laws and agreements are changed to severely penalize those who break the law while trying to circumnavigate the legal process of asylum and migration then we will be going around in circles. Once the UK is no longer bound by the Dublin agreement we might see some changes, but I will not hold my breath.

I have sympathy for those following the rules. I have no sympathy for those who knowingly break the law.

I have family and friends who have had to jump through hoops, awaited years and pay thousands in fees to live in the UK (and become British).

Illegal migrants are no different to those who drive with no license, or insurance, or road tax.
