Critically ill man 'former Russian spy'

Not in the earlier interviews I saw, he was just listing all possible nerve agents, basically treating them as equally likely possibilities even long after it was clear they were not!
Roger, the one I saw yesterday pretty much just named three which he dismissed and then went straight onto Novichok.

Shocking coincidence.

A Russian political exile who warned he was on Putin's hitlist has been found dead in London

A Russian political exile who once warned that he was on the personal hitlist of Vladimir Putin has died in London in unexplained circumstances.

Nikolai Glushkov was found dead at his home in the UK capital, according to multiple UK and Russian media outlets. The exact circumstances are not yet clear.
He was 69, so this very well could simply be coincidence.

Well, if they really had the will, they could collapse Russia's capital market in no time at all. If the US, UK, EU and Swiss all prohibited clearing of their respective currencies for any and all Russian financial institutions and noted individuals they'd REALLY feel that very quickly*. It could be done, literally, overnight.

The US, Swiss and UK can do it easily enough, but the EU is exposed as it's too reliant on Russian gas (hense the move towards rewnewables, far from madness on their part).

Russia has been trying to finds innovative ways of repatriating foreign currency, e.g. by issuing foreign currency bonds into the domestic market (get the oligarch's cash back into Russia, but denominated in foreign currency). It's due for implementation this year via an issuance program. That could be shut down overnight. They're expecting >$40bn.

Vlad is profligate and running out of cash.

* by way of example, all USD clearing is done, ultimately, via the US Federal Reserve system. That means any transaction involving the transfer of USD from one bank account to another.
Another one of life’s dilemmas, who do you trust least.
Bankers or Russians?

Lavrov also took a jab at London. "Speaking of manners,” he said. “It must be remembered that the era of colonialism has long been a thing of the past.” We know Sergey, thats why your head is not on a spike along with Putins on the outside of the Tower of London!

Quite amusing really when Russia is trying to reclaim former colonial territories in Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, the Baltic States and is continuing to colonise Konigsberg. The massive steaming hypocrite

A spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry has said Russia will not allow any British media outlets to operate in Russia if RT loses its UK licence.

She also warned that nobody should threaten a nuclear power - alluding to Russia.
Anyone still arguing that we should bin Trident?

Facts (numerous wars, bombing of Belgrade, bombing of tribal areas in Pakistan) give more credence to the theory that the Americans believe that they can murder people in other countries with impunity.

Washington and some its puppet states unleashed the war in Iraq. Hundereds thousands were killed. And at the same time you blame Russia just because a private person discusses imaginary scenario of financial war.
Are you sane?
You are the one bragging that Russia can do do what it likes because you say that Europe cannot retaliate. You are the one saying that non one in Europe would dare.
Apparently you think it would be insane for the UK to take measure against Putin for having people attacked with weapons of mass destruction on UK soil, but you still insist on “America bad”as a distraction argument.

Are you abLe to carry out a normal conversation?

What time is shift change? I might get more sense out of the next shift.

Do you think the World Cup boycott will be announced tonight or tomorrow morning?

It'd be a far greater punishment to force them to watch England play, based on recent form in major tournaments...

('In the second group game, Mr Speaker, it has been agreed that Mr Southgate will be issuing a protest via adopting tactics that Mr Tony Pulis would dismiss as dull and an antithesis to all that a game of football should be, and I hope the House will concur that this is a far more severe demonstration of our displeasure than not turning up at all'.)

Will be interesting to see what TM goes for. This is as close to a Falklands moment as she's likely to get. The public is more politically engaged than it has been for a long time and will expect her to come down hard.
