Bollocks they were. And who were these "elite" home grown pilots that you so happily denigrate?. The 19-year old ones with a few hours training on a Spitfire or Hurricane before joining the slaughter?
All BoB pilots -- of whatever nationality -- deserve our gratitude and respect.
Apologies for grumpiness, but you sir, are way out of line. Please direct me to a similar Czech website where I can spout some inaccurate shite about YOUR veterans.
Epic fail on two points so far
1, This is about the fails of the RAF.
2, I am British.
I.ll grant you that anyone who climbed into a kite and went up deserves recognition for what they did.
However, it is for another thread about the issues surrounding the reason why ... seasoned pilots... be they Polish whatever, were left on the ground whilst youngsters with little experience of even flying were shot down in flames. Something to do with RAF mis-management.
Another epic fail was the insistence by the RAF top bods about the V formation... only later did they copy the much more effective German system of double pairs.
And returning to your point about denigrating the original pilots from the UK, I think it is worthwhile remembering the denigration that large numbers of foreign pilots, flying under RAF Colours were subjected too.
Dark Blue World is a great film, and downplays what happened to the foreign pilots to some extent.
Again, institutional bias by a very young organisation almost lost the Battle of Britain.
And
The top Battle of Britain Ace was from...?
