RAF pilot fined over Open swoop

The 2007 Open Championship was held at Carnoustie in Angus
An RAF pilot has been fined Ј1,500 by a military court for swooping low over a golf course where the British Open was taking place.

Flt Lt Marc Rodriguez pleaded guilty to flying at less than 1,000ft over the Carnoustie golf course, in Angus, on 20 July 2007.

The 29-year-old, based at RAF Cranwell, in Lincolnshire, had appeared before Colchester Military Court.

A spokesman said Rodriguez had been fined and "severely reprimanded".

The court heard the pilot flew a Grob Tutor aircraft over the course, which was hosting the 2007 British Open.
