Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Whilst reading a non related article, there was a short description of the death of a Cpl Cliff Fairbrother REME who was stabbed to death in Guyana whilst helping a friend in 1966.

I am not related, just curious but there is a dearth of information - is anyone familiar with this incident?

Cliff Fairbrother was a REME artificer attached to the 1st Bn The Middlesex Regiment. He was stabbed to death by a taxi driver in New Amsterdam British Guiana/Guyana in 1966. I knew him very well, he was very popular, and when his death was announced, all troops in the area were confined to Barracks.
