Covid disinformation in the BAME community

I have a neighbour who is an ICU nurse in a renal unit. She has just had her second jab and she has told me that several of the younger, none BAME, female nurses have declined. It seems that they are concerned about long term fertility and future pregnancy problems. No formal reasons were asked for.

Unfortunatly - we havent as yet conducted trials to establish if theres any highly improbable risks to fertility - has become Covid Jab causes infertility - pushed by the usual conspiraloons rehashing the annual Bill gates made 50 000 Indians / Africans other sterile with tests of Polio / TB / changing tv channell and regretably picked up and disseminated by the 21st centuries equivelant of Darwin, Newton, Curie, Karen on Facebook

With regards to disinformation in the BAME community.
When I had my jab the doses were given in rooms with normally three people getting a jab at the same time, then having to wait in the room for 15 minutes. Once the time limit was reached all three could leave.

When it was my turn there were four people, this included an Indian couple in their 60s. There was the husband there to translate the instructions to his wife who spoke no English at all.

It was fairly boring waiting the 15 minutes, so as the Indian couple spoke to each other in a non English language I imagined him saying to her ‘Sorry dear, but you have grown too old and I’m in need of a younger model. I’m having you put down, but not to worry, the injection will be painless and quick..........You know it makes sense’.

There are two options for you:
  1. You can speak Hindi.
  2. You're telepathic to sub-continent brain waves.

I’ll stuck with my original option............being bored and finding something amusing to pass the time :)

I don't remember seeing any fat bedu or jebalis in southern Oman '75 - '77. Town dwellers (and northerners) were a different kettle of fish.
Certainly a little different further North. In Fuddruckers (a fine dining establishment specialising in burgers) at al Khobar I once saw a table occupied by four of the most grossly obese people I've ever seen. Their thobes must have cost a fortune. They were, apparently, Princes of the Realm.

This is easily solved. Announce that white people are priority recipients of the vaccine. The resulting outrage will guarantee queues of willing BAME recipients.

Working in Dubai (the diabetes capital of the world) there was an astonishing number of hospital admissions over Ramadan. Admittedly mainly from over eating.

My bold ... I noticed a similar phenomenon in Morocco, the sheer quantity of food shovelled down in several meals after sunset is extraordinary. I worked out it was roughly up to 50% more than an average days consumption, that and especially at the first "iftar", bolted down with both hands!, causing no end of digestive problems!!

The BBC have just trailed a programme for tonight 'Is Covid disproportionately affecting people if colour?'

Thus the 'state broadcaster' is using taxpayers' funds to determine what most sensible people already know - if you listen to internet mumbo-jumbo and culturally don't social distance, you will be more likely to catch the disease.

The sooner the BBC is 'defunded' or disappears up its own ARRSE the better.

It may be unpalatable to you, but the BBC has championed the vaccine and has worked extensively on debunking myths about the virus, the testing programme and the vaccine rollout . They have, through their TV and radio networks, engaged with a lot of 'underserved' {DHSC term] communities highlighting how this pandemic has affected them and has actively promoted hygiene measures and vaccination.

Whether you like it or not, it is news that some communities are vaccine resistant; moreover, unless we get between 85-90% of the adult population vaccinated across all communities, this virus will not be contained and life will not return to normal, whatever that is. Interestingly, some communities in the UK are being informed by the BBC World Service, through their own languages and via relatives and friends in their countries of origin.

The UK would be much less served without the BBC.

The BAME community is well represented in certain parts of the Health and Social Care sector.

As hopefully this will address concerns of the BAME community it could mean that uptake will increase overall, and in those sectors - thus saving lives in the clinically vulnerable, those who cannot receive the vaccine and the small number for whom it proves ineffective.

Until we hit herd immunity we are all at risk - the sooner we reach that point the better and the BBC is helping in this.

I just sat in on a seminar with on healthcare inequalities - as a function of race, religion, education and income. These are realities; not some BBC 'woke' campaign as implied by @devexwarrior. And simply suggesting that these people are 'stupid' doesn't improve the outcomes...or perhaps that's what you want? Eh, @anglo ?

The sheer volume of food in the shops is staggering, even the aisles are piled high. Also the extraordinary number of top end hotels with massive Marques in their car parks to cater for the overspill from the dining rooms as they cannot cope with the number of people. Deny yourself food and drink during the day so you can absolutely stuff your face all night.

They can do what they want - but to do it in the name of piety and the supposed understanding the suffering of the poor and underprivilege makes me sick to the back teeth.

And don't forget the fireworks!

Gluttony vis a vis consideration of the poor and the hungry.
The whole point of fasting during Ramadan is for that very point, it's one of the 5 key pillar of Islam - not sure what that has to do with Christmas. I think 'Lent' is more relevant for Christians. The Abrahamic religions all suck balls, just one seems to want everyone else to dance to their tune more than the others.

Regardless, the religious high horse some get on and demand that you obey - for instance, in most of the ME countries, it's illegal to be out and about and partake of food, drink, smoke etc... The point about it is to understand the suffering - which is far easier if you make any reminder of the suffering haram, oh, and change working hours etc...

It's a sham. It's a con.

With a few exceptions such as sickle cell, how does race, religion and education play a part.
Income I can well believe.

Trust; people with very different cultural, racial, educational, 'religious' histories tend to be wary of those who don't share their experience. I don't trust the friggin French, for instance, or much of anything their national leaders say.
