COVID-19 mobilisation

3,000. Announcement gone public
I’d quite like to get a uniform on (wife likes uniforms) and do Aldi runs for the neighbours in the Land Rover.

It would be an excuse to get out of the house and also but more importantly, purchase as much booze as I liked and claim it was for the duffers.

Old Mrs Hubbard down the road likes to drink a slab of Guinness at a time.

Plus, there’s the medal. I’ll probably get an extra one for bravery if I go in without my ressie on.

That’s into Aldi btw, not Mrs Hubbard.

Good luck folks. Sure and it'll be a Great Adventure so it will.

If they need me, I'm sure RLC TA Grantham will shout.

I even thought of telling them my new address......

Funny - I was musing just last week that there is probably a green-kit bag in the QM stores with my name on it, mouldering gently, full of kit that fitted me back in 2008.

The only rig I have left is deserts ( I left before MTP was issued to low-lifes such as we) so.....

I’ve moved house over 14 times since I left the army and changed my name and they still found me. Thankfully it was just to give me pension information.

I think my days in Boots, Issue size 9 are long gone...if the RNXS was still about I might give that a go, but Gordon 'There's no Gold here! ' Brown sacked them all the monocular lackwit.

Just reading the JSP regarding mobilisation of reservists.

I’m allowed to claim for “care of animals” and “essential maintenance to main residence and gardens.”

This is gonna get quite expensive for the RNR.

Must be very specialised roles as the majority of the army is sat at Home/in SLA doing absolutely nothing at all.
Almost certainly, there's a fair few white collar accountant/lawyer types in the reserves who are probably at home twiddling their thumbs. Not sure why they would be needed but the article mentions them. Goes without saying that those with specialist medical/logistic roles in their day jobs might be needed.

Err no. Not in my neck of the woods at least, the local AR Inf Bn is calling in anyone with a pulse who is available and willing.

Nice to see MOD are 'writing to employers' presumably at their offices which are currently empty?
