Apparently I’m not taking this seriously enough.

It's almost as if some kind of a system to record civilian qualifications so that if specialist skills are needed the right people could be identified and mobilised/asked to support.

Like the reserve element of the Royal Signals has been suggesting at every Corps Conference for the last 5 years.

And like I offered to build in my last post, to keep my hand in coding databases (now sadly rusted over), and was turned down by corps HQ as 'We'd never need anything like that'

Ah....

It’ll never work.

I must confess, I've been wondering if they have a use for a soldier with a virology degree and relatively recent NHS path lab experience, but I guess we'll never find out.

Probably, but doubt they know they have you!

Perhaps speak to you CoC and offer support in case of any trawls that they have gone 'nah, don't have one of those' without checking?

Oooh do we still have Helibedfords?
Thanks to the DVLA kindly renewing the entitlement (without any of that expensive medical or paperwork) I'm still a qualified 'pilot' until my 80s.

I'm enquiring both ways at the moment.

I reckon you can all put your MTP pyjamas away now:

Britain may see just 5,700 deaths from coronavirus - far fewer than originally predicted - new modelling from Imperial College scientists shows.

Experts advising the Government said its social distancing strategy looks to be working, steering the country away from the 250,000 death toll once predicted by earlier modelling.

Earlier this month, Mr Johnson and his coronavirus response team was presented with research that suggested a death toll of 20,000 would indicate the success of their strategy.

Now, it is thought the daily toll of deaths may not exceed 250, keeping the total below 6,000.

"Our work shows that social distancing is working against Covid-19 as an effective parachute across multiple countries," Prof Tom Pike of Imperial College London told The Times.

Some fascinating statistics from the latest edition of Private Eye:

In 2018-19 there were 541,589 deaths registered in England Wales. In the week ending 10th January there were 14,058 deaths, but since the hand washing campaign came in it has dropped every week to 10,816 for the week ending 28th February. This is because hand washing hasn't just delayed the surge of Covid-19, it has reduced the incidence of seasonal flu, food poisoning, hepatitis A, threadworm and numerous other illnesses. The end of year statistics will make for very interesting reading!

Stay safe everyone and keep washing those hands!

If that proves to be the case the'll be a heap of Knighthoods in the New Year.
Let's hope Imperial are correct.

Back on thread - & it would be good to have one serious one - I am sure things will occur
